The Tapo C460 KIT is worth considering when the camera location has Wi-Fi and usable sunlight but no convenient outlet. Its local storage and free object detection provide a subscription-free recording route. Before choosing it for round-the-clock monitoring, understand the difference between its interval-based 24/7 Capture and uninterrupted video.

What happens when nothing is detected?

TP-Link explains that 24/7 Capture records images at configurable intervals between one and 60 seconds when no event is detected. When an event occurs, it switches to standard recording at 15 frames per second. This provides a timeline beyond event-only clips, but the quiet periods are not full-frame continuous video. That distinction matters most when you need to reconstruct brief activity that might not trigger detection. An interval history may help you see what changed between events; it cannot promise the same moment-by-moment detail as continuously recorded footage. Decide what evidence you actually need before selecting the camera because a product heading says “24/7.”

The Reolink CX820 is a useful alternative to consider when full continuous recording is the priority and you can install Ethernet and appropriate power. The trade-off is installation effort. Check the delivered hardware and current firmware before relying on Capture or hub-related behaviour. The official download page records feature changes and fixes, so the physical model name alone does not establish the exact software configuration.
