A porch doorbell should show the places where visitors actually stand and deliveries actually land. Begin with those two locations before comparing camera resolution or notification labels. Sketch the ordinary delivery

Notifications are another separate task. Decide whether you want a prompt to check a delivery, a preview image or a saved clip to revisit later. Their network and service dependencies can differ. A feature described as package detection does not establish a guarantee of immediate alerts or complete coverage.

Plan power and local storage together

E340 includes onboard storage and keeps its battery installed even when connected to supported doorbell wiring. C31's standalone local route uses a separately purchased microSD card. Those differences affect both the initial equipment list and the maintenance routine.

Inspect your existing power arrangement before assuming a wired installation is straightforward. The official C31 continuous-recording requirements differ from ordinary battery charging. This article is a selection guide, not an electrical installation procedure; the exact transformer and chime arrangement must match current instructions.

Local storage avoids making an optional cloud-recording plan the baseline budget, but retention still depends on how much footage is written. We have not measured a fixed number of recording days for either doorway. Decide how quickly you would inspect an alert and export a clip you need to keep.
