Smart-ring ownership includes an app relationship as well as a piece of hardware. Before choosing a ring, identify the records you expect to see and ask which payment, phone and account conditions apply. RingConn, Oura and Ultrahuman illustrate three access policies, but their policy differences do not establish measurement accuracy or a best product.

These are informational references checked on October 4, 2026. We have not verified a current affiliate-eligible physical ring offer for this site's purchasing shortlist, so this guide provides no ring purchase button or invented commission-backed recommendation. A sizing kit is also a separate accessory rather than a health-tracking ring.

RingConn: published core access without a subscription

The official Gen 2 and Gen 2 Air pages describe subscription-free tracking. This supports a useful baseline distinction: the published core data experience does not require an ongoing membership payment.

Model differences still matter. Gen 2 Air's FAQ says it lacks the sleep-apnea monitoring function described for Gen 2. That is a feature distinction, not evidence that either model diagnoses a condition or produces medically reliable measurements. We have not validated the underlying claims, and this comparison does not rely on advertised accuracy percentages.

Core access also does not mean every experimental feature is ready for every customer. RingConn's current pages describe some newer functions as beta or available through an application process. Check the exact feature and account condition you need; a general subscription-free statement should not supply missing evidence about that function.

Oura: fuller data access through membership

The official Oura membership policy lists US pricing of $5.99 monthly or $69.99 annually before applicable taxes. Without membership, current eligible rings show a limited set including the three daily scores, battery and basic account functions; detailed information and guidance require membership.

There is a generation exception: the policy says Oura Gen2 users do not require membership, while many newer functions are unavailable on that older hardware. This is why “Oura costs a subscription” is too broad without a generation and a desired function. Check the exact ring rather than applying the exception to a new purchase automatically.

Decide whether the detailed history you want belongs to the membership tier. If it does, use the recurring cost in the purchase calculation from the beginning. We have not tested a membership account, compared Oura's measurements or established current ring availability through the site's affiliate sources.

Ultrahuman: core data and optional extensions

Ultrahuman's US Ring PRO announcement says core sleep, recovery, movement, stress and circadian data are accessible without a subscription. Its PowerPlugs explanation separates optional paid extensions from core app functionality.

That creates a different budget question from Oura membership. Identify whether a particular extension is free or premium, available in the US and supported by your model. A free core promise does not establish every premium feature's price, regional availability or entitlement. Current account-specific extension prices remain unverified here.

Ring AIR and Ring PRO also need separate availability checks. This article uses the official US PRO policy as its current US example; it does not assert that AIR is currently purchasable in the US. We have not confirmed a live merchant checkout or affiliate-eligible offer for either.

Compare the records you actually need

Make a small access table for your own shortlist: daily summary, detailed history, export and optional interpretation. Mark each entry included, paid or unverified using the exact model's official policy. A legal data-access right, an in-app graph and a downloadable file are different ways to access information.

Our buying inference is to choose a fee structure that preserves the routine you intend to use when a trial ends. This does not prove that free services are simpler or that paid services are more accurate. Phone support, fit, charging and your preferred account arrangements still need review, and no consumer-ring claim here supplies a medical diagnosis or a reliability conclusion.
