Multi-floor maps can make a robot easier to configure on separate levels. They cannot move the robot up stairs or deliver station services to another floor. For a split-level home, the useful question is how the machine, water and dust move through your daily routine. This guide researches Q7 L5, Narwal Flow 2 and Dreame X50 Ultra from official sources; it is not a stair-climbing or mapping test.

Separate map storage from physical access

The US Roborock Q7 series page lists multi-floor map support for Q7 L5. The Flow 2 manual describes creating secondary maps. Those are concrete reasons to consider them when you want different floor layouts saved in the app.

Do not infer that every robot in either brand supports the same number of maps or automatically identifies every relocation correctly. Verify the specific app workflow and firmware. After moving a robot, confirm that the intended map and exclusions are active before permitting an unattended run.

X50 Ultra's official US manual documents map creation and cleaning controls. We have not independently established an exact multi-map limit for it here. Its advertised clearance mechanism is not a staircase solution. It still belongs in a plan that handles disconnected levels manually.

Put the station where its work will be used

A Q7 L5 base package has a charging dock and manual bin, water and cloth care. It is relatively simple to understand on a floor without the charger: the owner must plan battery availability and service the robot directly. It does not gain automatic mop washing from saving another map.

Flow 2 has a wet station that charges, collects dust and services its track mop. X50 Ultra likewise documents automated dust and mop servicing. Those conveniences are concentrated at their matching stations. A robot carried elsewhere cannot physically wash its mop or empty into a station located on another level.

Choose the station floor based on cleaning frequency, hard-floor mopping and convenient tank service. Then decide whether you will return the robot after every session, restrict other levels to a supported vacuum routine, or investigate a separate machine. Do not buy a second station without explicit compatibility and operating instructions.

Check the route and the person carrying it

Draw the disconnected areas, not just the number of stories. A sunken living room and a bedroom floor can create two separate carrying tasks. Thresholds within one floor can also divide the route.

Check the manufacturer's instructions for safe handling, transport and water management. Move the robot only when safe to do so, and do not treat a moving arm, sensor assembly or cleaning attachment as a carrying handle. If carrying the machine or tanks is difficult, saved maps alone do not solve the access problem.

Stair edges need the physical protection specified by the supplied manual, alongside supervision during initial use. The Q7 L5 manual requires a physical security barrier when the robot is used in a raised area such as a duplex apartment. Do not replace that barrier with a saved app boundary or rely only on cliff sensors. Sensor marketing is not evidence that every dark surface, unusual stair profile or loose object is safe. Keep the area prepared and verify the actual route before relying on a schedule.

Budget for the connected workflow

The checked manuals describe cleaning and mapping as normal equipment operations without paid-plan activation. We infer those documented core functions are included with the machine; advanced AI and future services are outside that conclusion. Remote app operation also has network dependencies that a saved local map does not eliminate.

Q7 L5 and Flow 2 model documentation specifies 2.4GHz Wi-Fi. Check coverage on every intended cleaning level and at the station. A strong signal downstairs does not demonstrate upstairs pairing or reliable remote operation.

Before buying, confirm the matching US station, basic supplies and exact accessory package. A good split-level choice minimizes the carrying and servicing tasks you actually face. It does not promise that mapping software will turn stairs into a connected cleaning route.
