Q7 M5 deserves consideration when your main task is regular mapped vacuuming with a removable mop for selected hard-floor runs. The important package choice is whether to buy M5 with its charging dock or M5+ with RockDock Plus automatic dust collection. We treat them as configurations of one robot family, not two unrelated cleaning robots. This research uses official documentation and does not compare measured suction or pickup results.

What the plus package changes

The official US Q7 series page explicitly separates M5 from M5+. The base dock recharges the robot. RockDock Plus also empties dust into a disposable bag. Automatic dust collection can help if bending to empty the robot is inconvenient or the bin fills frequently, but it introduces bags and another air path to maintain.

Neither configuration is documented here as a station that washes, dries or replenishes the mop. You still handle water and the removable cloth. Buy M5+ for the dust workflow it changes, not because “plus” sounds like complete mop automation. The advertised interval between bag changes depends on household dirt and use; it is not a guaranteed maintenance calendar.

How strong is the no-membership evidence?

The US series page presents app control, multi-floor maps and adjustable mop flow as equipment features. The M5+ FCC manual provides pairing, scheduled-cleaning and operating instructions without a subscription activation step. We infer that these documented core functions are included with the product. That is not an explicit manufacturer promise that every optional or future service remains free.

The plus manual supports only 2.4GHz Wi-Fi. We have not independently located a base M5 US manual to verify every radio or power detail for that configuration. Map the maintenance work honestly

For the base model, empty and clean the bin as needed. For M5+, replace the dock bag and keep the collection path clear. Both need brush, filter, wheel and cloth care. A bagged station can reduce how often you touch the robot's dust, but it does not remove cleaning and replacement tasks. The cloth should not be left dirty simply because the vacuum bin empties automatically.

Choose by the intervention you want to avoid

The base M5 is easier to justify when the floor area is modest and occasional manual bin emptying is acceptable. M5+ is more relevant when repeated dust handling is your main inconvenience.
